What’s it like to run for Shelter? Shelter runner Mark Smith shares his experiences: ‘The Virgin London Marathon is one of life’s great experiences, uplifting and infectious. To be able to represent such a worthwhile charity as Shelter also makes it a deeply humbling experience, so many people are relying upon and are appreciative of your efforts. It doesn’t quite make the pain go away but it certainly makes the miles seem shorter!
‘The Shelter ‘cheerleaders’ provide a welcome boost at critical points on the journey and the roars of the crowd at Tower Bridge lift the hairs on the back of your neck.
‘The ‘Smith family’, in various guises, will be participating in their sixth London Marathon in 2012 and will, for the third year, be raising as much money as they can to support Shelter in their invaluable work.
‘Wish us luck and wave us on and thank you Shelter!’
